Innovative suspensions for hydraulic fracturing enhanced remediation
FRAC-IN TECHNOLOGY
The Frac-In technology is an innovative procedure for soil remediation. The technology is being used, tested and improved through its application in three European collaborative projects.
-
Demonstrating and verifying the feasibility of the Frac-In technology for further commercial use.
-
Development and application of oxidative biological and chemical remediation concepts.
-
Enabling in situ soil remediation on low-permeability sites through hydraulic/pneumatic fracturing.
method & application
Pneumatic fracturing is employed to create fractures that are then filled with innovative suspensions, enhancing contaminant removal in difficult geological conditions. The aim is to develop an appropriate setup and unique remediation agents tailored for various contaminants of concern and remediation methods, including ISCR (In Situ Chemical Reduction), ISCO (In Situ Chemical Oxidation), and enhanced bioremediation.
